Home Run Featured at California College Promise Convening

The City of West Sacramento was recently featured at the second annual California College Promise Convening. California College Promise Project staff, in partnership with the California Community College Chancellor’s Office, Los Rios Community College District, and the Community College League of California, hosted more than 400 participants at the day-long event, including representatives from California community colleges and California state university campuses; community-based programs in California; and College Promise program partners and funders. The presentations and workshops emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration for structural and financial sustainability of College Promise programs, strategies to align College Promise programs with student support structures, and intersegmental transitions to ensure student persistence and completion.

Staff from the City of West Sacramento Home Run participated in the Panel on the “Role of Local Leaders in College Promise” moderated by Larry Galizio, Executive Director of the Community College League of California. In addition to staff from the City of West Sacramento, Erica Kashiri, Director of Workforce Development in the office of Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg and Deborah Budd, Chancellor of the San Jose-Evergreen Community College District.
